Privacy Policy
The short version: 9ja Whot does not ask for, collect, or sell any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, and no analytics. The only data that leaves your device is the anonymous game data needed to play an online match, and it expires automatically.
Who we are
9ja Whot is a Nigerian Whot card game for Android and iOS, published by Okoli Jeff (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data the app handles and why.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, device identifiers for advertising, or any other personal information. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Data stored only on your device
- Game statistics (wins, losses, games played) — stored locally so the app can show your record.
- Preferences such as your theme choice — stored locally.
This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
Data used for online multiplayer
When you host or join an online match, the app uses Google Firebase to synchronize the game between the two players:
- Anonymous ID — Firebase Authentication assigns your device a random, anonymous identifier. It is not linked to your identity and is used only to secure your seat in a game room.
- Game data — the 4-character room code, the state of the game, and the moves played are stored in Google Cloud Firestore while the match is active. Rooms carry an expiry time and are deleted when the host ends the game or the room expires.
This game data contains no personal information. It is processed by Google LLC as our service provider; see the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation for how Google handles it.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties. The only processing outside your device is the Firebase infrastructure described above.
Children
9ja Whot is a card game suitable for general audiences. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we also collect none from children.
Your choices
Playing offline against the computer requires no network data at all. You can clear all locally stored data by uninstalling the app. If you want anonymous multiplayer data removed sooner than its automatic expiry, contact us with your room code.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts handling data differently (for example, adding accounts or analytics), we will update this page and change the effective date above before the change ships.
